The next morning is filled with less tension. We have an amazing breakfast together, laughing and talking, and when Trix messages that she’s a few minutes away, I grab my things, waiting at the door for her to arrive. Mom and Dad stand right behind me, telling me how they’re going to miss me.
I don’t think Mom told Dad what I told her about me and the guys. I think it will give Dad too much hope that it could be the end, and it might make him think he was right in it hurting me, even though it was me who hurt them first, but Dad will see me as the victim.
Once settled in Trix’s car, I fill her in on everything that happened with me, but not once does she fill me in with anything that has happened back at school, or if she has seen the trio.
I take out my phone, it now feeling strange in my hands. I’m about to press the power button when she takes it from my hands and places it under her ass.
Why the hell would she steal my phone? “You better have a good reason why you’re putting your butt sweat on my phone.”
She points at me before looking back at the road. “Firstly, my butt doesn’t sweat, especially through these jeans, and secondly, it’s for your own good. You’ve said you’re sick with being upset, and I know that you’ll get upset if you turn on that phone. I’m just stopping the inevitable for now. I think it will be best to wait until we’re close to home.”
“Let me guess. More pictures have been sent. Since I haven’t been there, it will be of the guys, probably looking like they have done something bad, probably pictures of them with many, many girls. And maybe messages and voicemails from them too, or none at all. Have I left anything out?”
She scrunches up her face before nodding. “I think that about sums it up. Oh, and Jesse has basically gone a little stalkerish on Clarissa’s ass. He has been leaving messages, apologizing non-stop to her, trying to speak to her at school. But luckily, she won't give him an inch. What did he expect though?”
I’m glad she isn’t letting him back in. If he wants to get back on her good side, he will have to do more than begging.
“Do you think she will forgive him?” I wonder if I would if I was her.
She shrugs. “I don’t know. Clarissa is a very good person and seems like the forgiving type, but she let him get close to her. Who knows how far they would have gone if we didn’t knock on her door and stop it. I wouldn’t be able to trust him as I would question if I would always be second best compared to my best friend.” She looks at me before facing forward again.
“But she isn’t second best though.”
“I know that.” She presses her hand to her chest. “But she probably doesn’t feel like that.
